Danielle Madrid began dancing at the age of three and hasn’t stopped moving since. What started as a hobby has become a way of life. Danielle began her professional career at Dance Place in Washington, D.C., where she witnessed first-hand how dance could affect positive change in the community. For four years, she performed and taught with Carla & Company, a D.C. modern dance company, bringing dance into public schools and community centers throughout the capital region.
She continued her dance studies at Temple University in Philadelphia, where in 2013 she received her Master of Fine Arts degree in Performance and Choreography. As a graduate teaching assistant at Temple, Danielle taught undergraduate dance courses and continued teaching in area public schools. During her graduate studies she developed a practice in dance improvisation, which emphasizes a process-oriented approach to creating movement in the moment.
Upon graduation, she moved to Washington state and completed her 200-hour teacher training in yoga at Movement Arts studio in Stanwood, WA. During this time, she also became a military spouse and mother. To cope with these new stresses, she turned to yoga as a way to decompress and be present. For four years she had the honor of teaching yoga to active-duty Marines and their families, which cemented her belief that movement heals. Whether it’s getting a better night’s sleep or recovering from an injury, she saw how yoga helped people feel better.
Danielle approaches all of her classes with the philosophy that movement should be accessible. Her classes are inclusive and fun with an emphasis on proper alignment and finding balance between strength and ease.
